Colourful Plant Combinations For Shady Areas

The colours and contrasts in this plant combination, makes it one of my favourites for shady areas. The Acers provide stunning leaf colour and shape and a mid canopy to the scheme. The carpet of underplanting is made up of drifts of ferns, Carex, Liriope and Hellebores, all with varying leaf shapes and colours; with the variegated Carex and the fresh lime green growth on the ferns really lighting up the shady space.
